We’re happy to announce that Quaderno now offers seamless integration with Braintree. When you take a payment or send a refund, your invoicing can be automatically handled by Quaderno. Once you’ve got the process set up it’s totally automatic and requires no intervention on your part!
Integration with Braintree is great for our customers. But we know that what’s even better is having your VAT compliance automated.
The new VAT rules in the EU came into force in January 2015, and they’re piling more paperwork and stress on small businesses. Just to remind you: the new VAT rules mean you have to charge VAT based on where your customers are located, not where your business is located, a change that could see you dealing with 75 different rates of VAT in 28 different countries.
With that in mind, we feel pretty good that we can take at least some of that weight off our customers by offering EU VAT compliance for Braintree.
Here’s how you set up integrated invoicing for Braintree:
- Go to Settings > Braintree in Quaderno and enter your API credentials.
- After you do that, you’ll get a personal Webhook URL, which will look like this: http://yourcompany.quadernoapp.com/braintree/notification
- Copy and paste that into your Braintree account under Settings > Webhooks, and select the “Subscription Charge Successfully” notification. From now on, Quaderno will be notified every time a subscription is renewed.
Customising the billing information on your receipts does take a little more setup, but not much. When you create the Braintree Customer on your back-end, just use the billing address fields.
To really make sure your EU VAT compliance is nailed, you’ll need to set the customer’s name, billing address, and IP address fields. Set that up and Quaderno will cover the VAT Braintree should assign to each customer by tracking those three pieces of data and ensuring that at least two of them are non-contradictory.
